Andrew is an experienced commercial and data protection lawyer.  Whilst his focus is on technology, he has worked in a variety of sectors including energy, telecoms, financial services and health.


Andrew’s clients have ranged from large global companies to start ups, working both via law firms and in-house, including acting as Head of Legal and CCO for electronic cigarette company NuMark Innovations. 


Andrew has a track record of working closely with businesses to understand their legal challenges and deliver practical and effective solutions.


Examples include:  
– Andrew advised a start up which provides data services to the commercial real estate market. In order to provide these services, the client relied on government data.  Andrew undertook a comprehensive analysis of Ordinance Survey, Royal Mail and Open Government licences together with relevant case law in order to ascertain the client’s data usage rights. He also developed template data services and SaaS agreements which safeguarded these rights.  
– Andrew acted as legal lead in a large IT service provider’s bid to supply an employee records system to the NHS, worth in excess of £1 billion, under the Government Model Services Contract.  Andrew worked closely with the business to undertake a comprehensive risk assessment of the agreement.  He also initiated and undertook an analysis of Government guidance concerning Model Services Contract negotiation to enable the client to develop a negotiation strategy.  
– Andrew provided strategic data protection advice to a major Australian franchisee establishing a fast-food chain in Europe. Andrew undertook a comprehensive analysis of its processing of employee data in order to develop a GDPR compliance programme.  He also worked closely with the business on implementation, including preparing privacy notices and data processing agreements, advising on international transfers of personal data and use of CCTV as well as providing GDPR training.
