Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why are so many lawyers and professionals considering a distributed legal model?

The traditional law firm model simply doesn’t work for everyone anymore. Many professionals want more control over how they work, how they’re remunerated and how they build relationships with clients.

A distributed legal business gives them:

    1. Flexibility over time and workload
    2. Freedom from billable-hour pressure
    3. Better earning potential
    4. Access to modern technology and streamlined systems
    5. A healthier work–life balance
    6. A chance to build their personal profile, not someone else’s

At arch.law, lawyers and professionals don’t sacrifice support or structure, they gain both, just in a more modern way.

  • What makes the arch.law model different from other consultant or non-traditional firms?

A lot of firms label themselves as “consultant-led” or “platform-based,” but the support varies massively. At arch.law, our model is built around four pillars that ensure lawyers feel supported, connected and empowered to grow:

    1. Technology

Cloud-native tools, AI-enabled workflows and secure collaboration systems mean lawyers spend more time on legal work and less time on admin.

    2. Global Footprint

We’re a distributed legal business with members across multiple jurisdictions, which means better opportunities for cross-border work and referrals. With Collaboration hubs (what we call our offices) in the UK, Canada, Australia, and support services in Dubai there’s plenty of opportunities to balance your working life anywhere.

    3. Build Your Business

We help lawyers build sustainable, compliant, scalable practices, through marketing, BD support, referrals and business coaching.

    4. Management Experience

Our leadership team has decades of experience in both traditional and modern legal environments. We understand what lawyers need to succeed when building their business. Meet the team supporting you.

The combination of these pillars is what truly sets us apart.

  • Who is arch.law designed for?

We’re ideal for experienced lawyers, but importantly, arch.law is not just a home for legal professionals.

Our distributed model is intentionally built to support a wider ecosystem of complementary services, including:

    • Fractional General Counsel (arch.law GC)
    • Company Secretarial and Governance
    • Audit and assurance professionals
    • Business consultants who work alongside legal teams such as HR and CFO’s

These professionals often face the same challenges as traditional-firm lawyers, limited flexibility, capped earnings, heavy admin, and restricted ability to build their own client relationships.

    arch.law gives them:

    • A modern solution to build their service offering
    • Technology and infrastructure to streamline delivery
    • A global network for cross-referrals
    • Opportunities to collaborate across disciplines
    • A transparent, scalable remuneration model

So while many of our members are experienced lawyers, the model is deliberately designed for any trusted professional whose work touches legal, governance, risk, or compliance functions.

  • Do lawyers lose support when they join a distributed model like arch.law?

Not at all, that’s one of the biggest misconceptions. Our members actually gain support because we combine:

    • Traditional firm structure
    • Modern technology
    • Operational assistance
    • Access to a global team
    • Specialist knowledge
    • Marketing and BD help

You work independently, but never alone.

  • What is remuneration like at arch.law?

Portfolio Members at arch.law are paid fairly and transparently based on the work they deliver with a 70/30 fee share in their favour.

    They also benefit from:

    • Referral revenue across the wider business at 15%
    • No secret deductions
    • No arbitrary caps
    • No partnership politics

It’s a modern, empowering financial structure designed to reward skill and effort, not hierarchy.

  • How does arch.law support lawyers in building their practice?

We provide a structured, strategic approach to business growth, including:

    • Marketing campaigns
    • Digital assets
    • Website presence
    • Access to our global portfolio network
    • Referral opportunities
    • Practice development advice

Portfolio Members can grow at their own pace, with as much or as little help as they want. Take a look at our full support services here.

  • What technology do arch.law Members use?

We give our members tools that remove friction and enhance client service:

    • Secure cloud platforms
    • Automated workflows
    • AI-enabled research and drafting tools
    • Encrypted client communication
    • Centralised practice management
    • Document automation

Everything is designed to save time, reduce admin and elevate quality. Take a look at our full support services here.

  • How do clients benefit from this model?

    Clients often experience:

    • Faster response times
    • More personalised service
    • Transparent, modern pricing
    • Easier communication
    • Access to specialist expertise across jurisdictions

Clients appreciate lawyers who have the space and autonomy to focus on them, not internal pressures. The key piece, and importantly, the client doesn’t feel any friction in working with lawyers in this way, the continuity is key. We are a law firm in every sense, we simply pay professionals in a different way.

  • What is the recruitment process like?

    It’s straightforward and supportive. Typically:

    1. Confidential conversation with our Head of Recruitment to explore your goals
    2. Meet our CEO & Founder Andrew Leaitherland to understand alignment
    3. Discuss practice expectations and support needs with our Senior Management Team
    4. Onboarding and technology setup
    5. Launch your practice at arch.law

We only bring in people who are the right fit, which is why our community thrives.

  • I don’t understand the difference between arch.portfolio and arch.resource?

    It’s quite straight forward really. If you are generating clients and revenue by yourself then you should look at arch.portfolio first. This enables you to capture 70% of the revenue billed and paid on the clients that you or someone in your team works on. Our other way of working, arch.resource, is very much focused on those individuals who want to work on an ad hoc basis but don’t have their own relationships to bring onto arch.law. Our arch.resource members will be provided with work either centrally or from other arch,portfolio members but it is entirely at the discretion of the individual member as to whether they want to take the work on or not;

  • Why is arch.law different from other revenue sharing models?

At arch.law we are heavily focused on bringing groups of people together to provide the right solution to our clients’ legal needs – it’s very much team based or “clusters” as we call them. Rather than just plugging in one advisor to operate by themselves, we look for individuals that can work together as a cohesive unit, ensuring that a scalable practice can be built within our business.

  • Does arch.law have offices?

Our lawyers and advisors work on a distributed basis – this means they can work from anywhere as our technology solutions are cloud based. That said, we have set up collaboration hubs in a number of cities and also provide digital passes to co-working spaces on a global basis. Our collaboration hubs and co-working spaces also provide meeting room and printing solutions.

  • What type of law firm is arch.law

We build arch.law as a law firm for the future, not based in the past. We recognise that being able to work from wherever you want, however you want and whenever you want is vitally important to lawyers these days and so we build arch.law as the best platform to achieve this.
