Kathryn Griffin

Kathryn specialises in providing exceptional legal advice and strategy to support clients’ commercial objectives. Critical in achieving this, Kathryn focuses on building and maintaining client relationships so that she is able to quickly become an extension to clients’ businesses, providing critical expertise in relation to pre-contractual negotiations and disputes avoidance, through to rick management and conducting litigation.

For almost two decades, Kathryn has worked at top tier international firms in the City of London, specialising in high value complex litigation, and has extensive experience providing effective legal advice and strategy to help clients resolve disputes. Her depth of commercial litigation experience, which cuts across a wide range of industry sectors (particularly media, technology and telecoms), includes acting for clients in relation to:

  • allegations of fraud (including commodity receipt fraud);
  • mis-selling of financial products;
  • unlawful competition practices in business diversion;
  • intellectual property disputes;
  • defamation and libel claims;
  • breach of fiduciary duties / breach of director’s duties;
  • breach of supplier contracts;
  • defective goods claims;
  • and other company law disputes.

She is highly experienced in providing authoritative advice both in the pre-contract phase, identifying potential risks early in that phase to reduce the likelihood of disputes arising and in relation to the smooth running of high-value complex litigation.

In addition to her disputes work, Kathryn has extensive experience in undertaking critical legal analysis and providing commercial solutions throughout the contractual negotiation process.

Kathryn aims to be an extension to our client’s business. Consequently, when external issues arise, which place unexpected stresses on a business or when it faces litigation, she is excellently placed to provide swift and effective legal advice. This approach often results in the reduction of management time required in dealing with legal issues.

She understands the commercial realities businesses face during the course of negotiations, and that legal issues can be seen as an unwelcome barrier to those negotiations. Whether assisting at the pre-contract stage (including the early identification of potential risks and providing effective solutions to those risks) or post-completion when a dispute arises, Kathryn works hard to provide legal advice and strategy to support our clients and their commercial goals.

Having acted as sole in-house litigation counsel for a British telecom provider on all areas of its business, Kathryn understands the time pressures on businesses and their management teams and so offers concise legal advice and solutions which can be implemented quickly to ensure the least disruption to our client’s business as possible.

Kathryn’s former Partner at Clyde & Co said of her: “one of the best pieces of legal investigation and analysis that I have come across for years. I don’t know how you got there but you did, and I salute you.
